Application engineering overview

A cartoning system designed from the approved pack

An automatic bottle cartoning machine must stabilize each container before loading while protecting the cap, label and printed surfaces. Depending on the container shape and speed, bottles can be single-file fed from an upstream line, accumulated on a turntable or presented through a dedicated timing and transfer system.

A horizontal bottle cartoner inserts a bottle or bottle group through the side of an erected carton, often together with a folded leaflet. A top-load cartoner or rotary vertical cartoning machine can be selected when the container is easier to place through the open top or when manual and automatic loading must be combined.

Vial cartoning requires additional attention to glass handling, spacing and carton support. The vial cartoner configuration is finalized from the container diameter and height, closure, label position, carton geometry, leaflet requirement and the interface with the upstream filling, capping, inspection or labelling line.

Product formats

Applications considered during machine configuration

The feeding, change parts and carton-handling sequence are confirmed from actual samples, required output and the intended production process.

  • Round and rectangular medicine bottles
  • Glass and plastic containers
  • Single vials and vial groups
  • Eye-drop and nasal-spray bottles
  • Bottle with leaflet combinations
  • Top-load and horizontal end-load cartons

System architecture

Engineering decisions that shape reliable cartoning

Controlled bottle feeding

Infeed screws, timing belts, starwheels, indexing conveyors or transfer devices are selected around the approved container.

Container protection

Guides and transfers are designed to control glass-to-glass contact, cap interference, scuffing and label damage.

Horizontal or top-load

The loading direction is selected from container stability, carton design, output, leaflet handling and available line space.

Before requesting a proposal

Information required for a meaningful machine selection

For domestic and export projects, confirm the installation location or country, electrical supply, safety standard, documentation scope and preferred commercial terms.

  • Bottle or vial dimensions, material, centre of gravity and closure
  • Label position and permissible contact areas
  • Single product or multipack arrangement
  • Leaflet format and required carton orientation
  • Upstream filling, capping, labelling or inspection speed
  • Horizontal end-load versus vertical top-load presentation
